IHeartMintyMocha

On a day like today when it’s cold, grey and wet, there’s nothing I like more than to cuddle up on the sofa with my family, wooly blanket over our legs, and watch old movies.

I have been feeling a little unwell today and was in desperate need of something to warm my cold bones.

Only my Minty Mocha would do the trick and what better to make it all the more luxurious than a big splash of Lavazza coffee! Add a little splash of peppermint and a huge dollop of cocoa, nicely finished off with a milky froth and a chocolate sprinkle! There you have it, a big coffee hug to keep you warm!

If you are feeling let down by the miserable British weather, warm your bones with a bit of Italy and make yourself a delicious Lavazza Minty Mocha.

What you need:

1 Pink (of course) A Modo Mio capsule

1 Peppermint tea bag

1 cup of hot milk

1 table-spoon of cocoa

Chocolate flakes

What you do:

Stew a peppermint teabag in 50ml of boiled water until strong

Make an espresso with the A Modo Mio capsule and pour into the peppermint when done

Add the espresso and the peppermint to the hot milk and stir in the cocoa

Add the froth of the milk to the top of the cup and sprinkle a frosting of angel dust, urh, I mean, chocolate!

IHeartTiramisù

One of the first things that my husband cooked made for me shortly after we met was Tiramisù!

It made sense therefore that in preparing recipes for the Lavazza UK Wimbledon challenge, that he show me how to make it for Bambina. Her very first, very own tasty Tiramisù!

Lavazza is one of the proud sponsors of Wimbledon and will be serving up little cups of quality and aroma throughout the Wimbledon Championships.

In Italy there are versions of this dessert for children, usually made by dunking the sponge fingers into chocolatey milk. For Bambina’s Tiramisù I used decaffeinated Lavazza coffee.

What you need:

500g of Mascarpone cheese

4 fresh eggs

400g of Savoiardi biscuits

120g of sugar

Cocoa powder

6 coffee cups of Lavazza Decaffeinato

What you do:

Pour the coffee into a bowl and let it cool down (I like the coffee without sugar so that the Tiramisù is not too sweet, but you can sweeten it if you like)

Separate the egg yolks and whites and then mix the yolks with the sugar until a stiff creamy consistency

Mix the egg whites until they become firm

Add the Mascarpone cheese to the egg yolks and mix until smooth

Add the egg white to the Mascarpone mix, whisk until smooth

Dunk the Savoiardi biscuits in the coffee (wet them well without soaking them) and layer them inside the bowl

Pour the Tiramisu’ cream on top of your soaked Savoiardi biscuits and level it out with a spatula

Add a sprinkling of angel dust, urh, I mean, chocolate cocoa using a sieve

Add another layerer of soaked Savoiardi biscuits and Tiramisu’ cream until the bowl is almost full

Cover by sprinkling angel dust, urh, I mean cocoa

Chuck your Tiramisu’ in the fridge for a couple of hours so that its sets

All you need to polish off a beautiful dessert is a beautiful daughter!

Buon appetito Bambina!

CoffeeSetMatch

”A cup of coffee is always the beginning of something – a day, a conversation, an encounter, a break, a story” – Francesca Lavazza

This is MY story.

Ok, I’m English, I like tea, right? Right. But. Being married to an Italian kind of rubs off on you after a while and I now have a tiny penchant for coffee. Espresso. Latte. Not Cappuccino. At least not in England. I’m sorry to say but my fellow Brits just don’t know how to make a cappuccino. I best enjoy this on a sunny day, slight breeze blowing through the hair, sunglasses perched on head, people watching at the bottom of the Rialto bridge in Venice.

It might sound strange to you that a blogger by the name of “Tea”&Biscotti is writing about coffee. However, coffee to the Italians is what champagne is to the French! And for that reason I couldn’t help but get involved in Lavazza UK’s challenge to create as many coffee related recipes as I can in 2 weeks!

Lavazza’s Coffee Set Match campaign can be seen on take-away cups as well as a virtual cup promotion online which you can access here - it’s great, go ahead and and play- you have to in it to win it!  Prizes include six pairs of tickets to Wimbledon, 90 Lavazza A Modo Mio Favola Plus Wimbledon Limited Edition coffee machines and 500 sets of four exclusive espresso cups created especially for the tournament.

Now that I’ve received my shiny new Lavazza A Modo Mio Favola coffee machine and a whole array of wonderful coffee goodies… Let the bean hit the machine!!!

Andiamo….

I would love to hear about any funky, unusual or even traditional recipes you have, food or drink, that I could very cheekily borrow.

Grazie Mille!
